I’ve been doing a good bit of writing the last few weeks, enabling a fair amount learning, about myself and others. These experiences coupled with the beautiful spring afternoons of late, the quiet times on the deck sipping tea, have led to bit of reflecting on the road behind me. These musings include some of the pro-writers who infused, and continue providing, songwriting wisdom along the way. One of these mentors is Craig Bickhardt.
There’s no point in going through Craig’s resume, it’s on the net with everyone else’s. I will, however, say that Craig is one hardworking writer and musician, having spent several years in Nashville, with cuts and hits to his credit. He’s also a dedicated husband and father, and relies on the fruits of his labor to provide for his family. So when the opportunity came about to support the project for producing his latest CD, I did what I could.
I believe “The More I Wonder” was released a couple of weeks ago. My copy arrived in the mail and sat on my studio desk for the last 2-3 days, tonight I opened the package and listened for the first time. Now this is solely my perspective, but the record seems to put an exclamation point on the last few years since Craig put Nashville in his rear view mirror and moved back to Pennsylvania.
All I can say is the songs and production drew me in and captivated me through the last track. This post isn’t a promo, it’s a note of thanks. A bit of prose about how good it feels to see an artist who isn’t letting the industry steal his joy, or prevent his sharing his heart through the craft he loves, and continually hones. Whether via live performance or recordings such as this one, Craig gives it his all, and it’s all Craig.
So congratulations, Craig, and once again, thanks… I’m glad I’ve been paying attention.
